Underwater Portraits
Underwater portraits are a brilliant way to explore your artistic self in a safe, controlled water environment. Enjoy the fluidity of a salt water swimming pool as you are guided through a photography session.
Let your creativity loose!
What you want to wear for your photography session is up to you! You can wear a mermaid tail, bring fabric and or a dress for your session. Multiple outfits are welcome too! I have options of mermaid tails, dresses and fabric you can use as well, for an extra cost, if you could like to utilize my wardrobe!
Water as a healing force
I will guide you safely through an underwater session, coach you in holding your breath, how to hold poses and have a relaxed and enjoyable time in the water.
Many people find that these underwater sessions can be a deep, healing experience, plus you receive fabulous photos of yourself when you are finished to share your magical experience with others afterwards!

I recently had the pleasure of an underwater photo shoot with The Kauai Mermaid Experience and it was truly magical! Tara made me feel comfortable in the water and in front of the lens. I brought a couple of my mermaid tails, some sarongs and a long lightweight skirt to wear in the water. She made sure to get a few shots in each outfit and really let me play, plan the poses & express myself in her beautiful private saltwater pool. It was a wonderful afternoon of diving, swimming, laughing and learning cool tips & tricks for posing underwater, using a weight belt and breath holds. I borrowed her triton as a prop in some shots & I love how it gave a narrative storybook feel to those photos. They turned out to be my favorite pictures of the day!
I found the whole experience to be super unique, peaceful, artistic and transformative. Being underwater has always felt healing to me, and during our session I fell in love with using the weight belt and enjoyed being able to lie on the pool floor(in the shallow end). I wasn’t sure of what to do at first but with gentle direction from Tara, by the end I felt at ease and in my element. That alone is a reason to book a session, but also I really love the ethereal final edits she did on the photos! Not only did I have a lovely day and learn new skills, I have gorgeous pictures and a newfound appreciation for underwater photography. 11/10 highly recommend for you or the mermaid/water lover in your life!
